Gary Henkin
Gary HenkinPresident

As President and Founder of WTS International, Mr. Henkin has over 30 years of experience in the planning, design and management of health clubs, spas and fitness facilities of all types. He has also coordinated and developed numerous needs assessment studies for prospective spa and/or health club properties. WTS International has grown during the past three decades to become one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing fitness and spa consulting and operating firms. At present, the firm has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide and provides its services to hotels, resorts, luxury residential properties, exclusive golf and country clubs, day spas and real estate developments throughout the United States and overseas. A frequent speaker at industry and real estate conventions, Mr. Henkin has also published numerous articles related to spa design, health club design and fitness and spa management in such publications as Real Estate Today, Hotel Business, Club Management, Club Business Magazine, Real Estate Forum, Resort Management Magazine, Club Director and Boardroom. His speaking engagements include addresses to the attendees at B.O.M.A. (Building Owners and Managers Association), I.H.R.S.A. (International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) and Club Managers Association of America national conventions. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1966. Presently, Mr. Henkin resides in Maryland with his wife and is active in a number of Washington, D.C. charitable foundations.
Frank Guengerich

Frank Guengerich has been extensively involved in the health club, spa and tennis industries for the past 25 years. Mr. Guengerich is recognized industry leader and is regularly invited to speak at internationally recognized conferences such as the IHRSA/ISPA International Annual Conference, NAHB Conference, CMAA Annual Conference and many others.

Frank has been with WTS International a combined total of 18 years, starting in 1986 as a Tennis Professional. Mr. Guengerich has also been in executive and leadership roles with other public and private companies such as Sport and Health, Town Sports International (NASDAQ-CLUB), and Life Time Fitness (NASDAQ-LTF).

Mr. Guengerich has extensive experience in working with equity investors, real estate developers, hotel and resort general managers, residential property managers and health club and spa service providers. He is responsible for all aspects of facility operations including financial performance, client communications and quality control at WTS affiliated spa, health club, recreation and leisure sites worldwide.

Susan started as a marketing intern with WTS in 1996. After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Marketing and International business, Susan immediately began working as a WTS Fitness Director within the Hilton Corporation, while pursuing a master’s degree in Health Fitness Management. In 2000, Susan moved to the U.S. Virgin Islands to become the Fitness and Spa Director for the Westin Resort St. John. From there, Susan went on to become the Director of Spa Services for the Sanderling Spa, a Condé Nast Gold winner. After successfully completing the million dollar expansion of the Sanderling Spa, Susan became a regional account executive for WTS in North Carolina. From this role, Susan easily made the transition to WTS’ Vice President, Spa Division.
Scott Krosnowski

For over fifteen years, Scott Krosnowski, has been extensively involved in the financial and information technology operations for resort, residential and private club spas and fitness centers throughout the United States and abroad. Mr. Krosnowski specializes in spa and fitness accounting, forecasting and financial reporting. His expertise ranges from constructing financial budgets for new facilities in their pre-opening stages to auditing and recommending growth strategies for existing properties.

In addition, he is responsible for site software selection, specifically client and staff systems that provide data and reports essential to efficient spa and health club management. Mr. Krosnowski works closely with our clients and staff, ranging from architects and developers to general managers and spa directors, to develop and implement the most appropriate and cost effective financial and information technology systems and procedures.

Mr. Krosnowski graduated from the American University in Washington D.C. with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with focus in Accounting and Finance.

Ralph Newman

Ralph Newman has been active in the spa, fitness and wellness industry since 1978. Joining WTS International in 1998, Mr. Newman oversees development and operations for WTS affiliated leisure properties. Mr. Newman received a BA from The University of Virginia and an MA in Exercise Science from George Washington University. He worked for the Department of Defense for over 11 years in management, educational and research capacities where he concluded his career in the public sector as an Assistant Professor at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. In 1989, Mr. Newman joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts where he developed and managed their flagship spa and fitness facility at their Georgetown property in Washington, D.C. for almost a decade. He also worked on the conceptual development, spa design and fitness design for numerous other Four Seasons’ properties throughout the United States and Canada prior to joining WTS. Mr. Newman has been a frequent lecturer on design and operations of spas and health club facilities at industry conventions nationwide. Most recently, he moderated the spa panel at the Condo Hotel Conference.
Kim Matheson Shedrick

Kim Matheson was president of her own company, Natural Resources, for 15 years, offering spa consultancy services including design and pre-opening support, for a diverse range of upscale clients including hotels, resorts, residential and real estate developments. Some of Kim’s most recent projects are the Four Seasons Moscow, Dubai, Disney Orlando and New York. Other recent five-star projects include Dove Mountain Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis Princeville. Matheson has also worked for Montage, Rosewood Menlo Park, Kiawah Island and Doonbeg, and Lapis at Fontainebleau.

As Senior Vice President for WTS based in New York City, Kim’s primary responsibilities include developing the local market and new business opportunities while overseeing international accounts. Kim also assists in the development of new spa concepts and provides advice to WTS clients on retail sales and marketing.

Allen Jakubauskas

A graduate of the University of Connecticut and Long Beach State University, with degrees in Kinesiotherapy and Recreation Administration, Mr. Jakubauskas spent several years working in Clinical rehab, commercial fitness centers and community recreation center management prior to joining WTS International in 2000.

Over the years he has been involved with numerous openings and day to day operations of spas, fitness centers and residential community clubhouses throughout the western United States. With extensive experience in working with master planned residential communities, hotels and resorts and private golf clubs, he is responsible for supervising design consultation, pre-opening and daily operations services for WTS affiliated leisure facilities ranging in size from 3,000 to 50,000 square feet. He has worked extensively with WTS Spa, Fitness, Lifestyle and Activities Directors throughout the Western region.

Dr. Abhishek Jain

Dr. Abhishek Jain brings 17 years of extensive experience in luxury hospitality, spa & wellness industries including pre-opening and successful operations of award winning properties worldwide. Dr. Abhishek is recognized as industry leader, particularly in the South Asian region and is regularly invited to speak at regional conferences such as Dept. of AYUSH, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Wellness Conference and many others. He is currently on panel of FICCI’s National Wellness Committee.

After graduating from RGUHS, Bangalore, India with a degree in Integrative Medicine, he immediately started working as a Research Scholar at National Institute of Naturopathy under Ministry of Health, Government of India. Later, he pursued a Masters in Hospital & Health Systems Management from renowned BITS, Pilani. In 2008, Dr. Abhishek was tasked to lead the pre-opening of the first authentic Ayurvedic Centre outside of India at the world’s leading destination spa resort, The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT, St. Lucia, in the Caribbean. He soon became the Senior Leader at this Spa that delivers 250 treatments every day. He then completed a Certification Program in Strategic Hospitality Management from Cornell University and General Management Program from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

In 2011, Dr. Abhishek joined the iconic luxury beach Resort in Goa, India for the reputed chain The Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts. During this period, Leela group’s ‘jewel in the crown’ property, The Leela Palace, Udaipur, became ESPA’s first managed property in India. And in 2012, Dr. Abhishek was handpicked to lead the ESPA at The Leela Palace, Udaipur, which had the unique distinction of being India’s first and only luxury tented lakeside Spa. Under his leadership, the Spa consistently won awards with Conde Nast Traveller, India, and was selected amongst the World’s Top 10 best designed Spas by Asia Spa Magazine. The Spa won numerous awards including Conde Nast Traveller’s Favourite Hotel Spa in India, (2014-2016) and Travel + Leisure’s Best Destination Spa in India (2015).

Mary Lynn serves as the lead design associate for key accounts with the WTS spa, fitness and recreation portfolio. Mary Lynn brings a wealth of knowledge within the field of hospitality design. She comes to WTS from the H. Chambers Company in Baltimore, MD where she was the Senior Interior Designer for private country clubs. Additionally, Mary Lynn’s background extends into the health and wellness field, having worked with several high-end Senior Living facilities throughout the country to include Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing units and Dementia Care. Mary Lynn is a professionally licensed interior designer, after passing the profession’s benchmark NCIDQ exam for professional qualification, as well as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) accredited.
Susan Shanmugham

Susan Shanmugham comes to WTS with a background in interior design, having received a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Upon graduation, she focused on promoting wellness in healthcare facilities through evidence based design and sustainability. She is a LEED accredited professional whose recent projects include a hospital patient tower that has received LEED Silver certification. In addition, she has extensive knowledge about sporting facilities, having contributed to gymnasiums, stadiums and field houses while working in the education sector.
Maria Antonela Axinte

Maria has worked in the industry for the past 15 years. She has developed expertise and in-depth knowledge of spa facilities management, having worked for a range of well-established international hotel brands including Starwood and Rotana but also individual 5 star facilities as Paris Gallery Spa and the state-of-the-art Heart and Soul Spa at Al-Barari.

After completing her MBA in international business, she started her career in the hospitality sector in Romania. This was soon followed by an opportunity in Saudi Arabia and her extensive and impressive experience in the spa and wellness industry gathered momentum, taking her across the GCC to work as a Project and Management Consultant in a host of exclusive resorts and hotels.

Maria is a constant presence at industry’s events and conferences; being invited as a guest speaker over the years, to forums like Hotelier Middle East, Hotelier Spa and Wellness Forum where she also has been honored to be part of the 2016 advisory panel.

Maria’s passion, enthusiasm and creative outlook for spa and wellness was conveyed into the establishment of the Wellness Consultancy Division at H2E2. In her role as Wellness Consultant, Maria was responsible for the business plan, working on the implementation and execution as well as delivery of the overall business concept and logistics of individual projects. She focused in particular on the strategic positioning of each business, that will capitalize on the ROI.

Currently Maria is representing WTS International as Regional Director for MENA region.

Melanie Silver

As WTS International Director of Spa Operations, Ms. Silver brings over 20 years experience in the luxury hospitality, spa and salon industries. She started her career working in the salon industry, eventually owning and operating her own salon in Pennsylvania. Melanie then joined the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company where she spent the majority of her career working as the Director of Spa at a luxury resort. Melanie then joined Columbia Hospitality as the Director of Spa, eventually working domestically and internationally on spa consulting, management and all openings. She also spent 2 years as the Director of Rooms for a luxury hotel in Seattle, Washington.
Penny Kriel

Originally from Mafikeng, South Africa, Penny Kriel gained an Honors and CIDESCO Diploma in Advanced Skin Care and Cosmetology, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Massage Therapy from the Tina Scholtz Health and Skin Care Academy in Potchefstroom. She began as a therapist onboard Crystal and Princess Cruises which then led her to be appointed as the lead therapist and later, business development manager for the Image Institute in Rosebank, South Africa.

Penny ran spa operations at the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park, London and was the Spa Director in Washington D.C. for seven years. She then joined the Salamander Resort & Spa as the pre-opening Spa Director. The Salamander, a luxury historic destination that features integrative and regionalized treatments, focuses on holistic, results-driven therapies. During her tenure, she assisted in creating Spa Standard Operating Procedures, Spa Service Standards and helped develop signature treatments. As a WTS Corporate Operations Director, she oversees WTS accounts within the Northeast region. She works directly with WTS clients and onsite directors to ensure successful operations, marketing and financial performance.

Amy Gallogly

For nearly two decades, Amy Gallogly has been involved in the leisure and recreation industry. During that time, Amy has gained expertise in all aspects of lifestyle programming, clubhouse operations and event management. She has assisted non-profit, resort, country club and community recreation properties during her successful career. In recent years, Amy’s focused on assisting master planned communities, residential high-rises, fitness centers and luxury resorts. Clients entrust Amy to increase exposure for their residential projects through the implementation of consumer events, grand openings and the creation of a vibrant and engaging community lifestyle. With an undergraduate degree in Commercial Recreation and Tourism from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ, Amy represents WTS International as a Corporate Operations Director. She oversees a team of Activity, Lifestyle and Club Directors in the Florida and North Carolina markets.
Jamie Wolf

Jamie has been involved in the wellness and fitness industry for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Jamie has held positions as Regional Personal Training Manager within medical facilities, General Manager at notable commercial health clubs, and most recently as a National Fitness Director for WTS International where he was tasked with providing support to a variety of health clubs located within hotels, residential properties, commercial clubs, and corporate facilities. In his current position, Jamie specializes in increasing revenue in fitness and memberships while streamlining operations for a wide array of WTS fitness accounts throughout the US. Jamie holds a Master’s Degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in Exercise Science and Health Promotion in Rehabilitation, along with a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Cincinnati in Exercise Physiology and Business Management. He has also been nationally recognized by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a recipient of the Pursuit of Excellence Award. Jamie is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and Performance Enhancement Specialist. He also completed the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Jennifer Lak brings over 16 years of experience as a spa executive within the luxury hospitality industry. Jennifer originally joined WTS International in 2003 as a Spa Director and then transitioned into various corporate roles including Pre-Opening Spa Project Manager and Corporate Revenue Generation Specialist. Throughout the years, Jennifer has worked on over 25 spa openings and transitions across the country, most notably Eau Spa at Eau Palm Beach and Spa de La Mer at Baccarat Hotel and Residences. She was also the Director of Spa on Hayman Island in Queensland, Australia. She developed targeted spa training programs and provided direct mentoring to spa directors in the field. She excels at concept and menu development, luxury level customer service training, spa design, and creation of strategic revenue generation plans. Most recently, Jennifer worked as a Field Evaluator with Forbes Travel Guide, the global authority on luxury travel. As a Corporate Operations Director for the Spa Division, Jennifer will oversee a portfolio of accounts in New York City and the Northeast Region and is responsible for ensuring successful operations, marketing and financial performance.

Janice brings over 27 years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry. She worked for companies such as Elizabeth Arden and the Aveda Corporation; most recently as the Vice President of Spa Operations for Serenity Day Spas, owned by the Sport & Health Clubs. Janice assisted in the launch of the successful Serenity Day Spa brand and was responsible for the development of their revenue focused marketing plan, collateral development and operational and training procedures. She also served as a mentor for their team of Spa Directors. Janice’s years of experience within the day spa market will bring a unique perspective to WTS spa sites to increase local capture rates. As a WTS Corporate Operations Director, she oversees a portfolio of accounts within the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions and is responsible for maintaining successful operations, marketing and financial performance.
Henry Gudelsky

A graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park with a double degree, Henry comes to WTS with over 18 years of experience in the service and hospitality industry. After spending 6 years in the restaurant industry, Henry worked with Town Sports International for 9 years. During his tenure there, he served as a General Manager, Area Manager, Regional Sales Training Manager, and Manager of Training and Development. Henry was responsible for the design, implementation and oversight of all training for staff involved in sales, operations, and service and performance development.
As WTS’ Director of Training and Development, Henry is responsible for incorporating our Forbes Customer Service standards in the development of training tools, standards and processes to better assist our managers in their own training and development as well as to provide them with the appropriate tools to train staff in the field.  In 2018 he helped launch the WTS Learning Management System and Virtual Classroom enabling all staff in the WTS network to be trained in sales, service, leadership, human resources, and operations.  He is also a member of the WTS operations team, utilizing his experience from the fitness industry to manage and drive revenue at several WTS locations.
